People who picked up the HTC Magic when it was first released will be thrilled by the news that HTC is in the process of creating an update that will bump the Android operating system up to the latest version 2.1.

The Magic was the predecessor to the popular HTC Hero and the update will also add in the customised Sense interface which is currently lacking from the older smartphone, adding in extra home screens amongst other tweaks.

HTC is showing support for many of its previous smartphones and the HTC Hero itself could also be getting the Android update at some point this year.

The likelihood is that UK Magic owners could have a long wait on their hands for the update, as they will have to rely on their network providers to modify HTC's version in order to comply with their own standards.

The update is expected to go live in the second half of the year.

It's not worth waiting, get an hacked rom or buy a nexus one! I'm currently not using my hero at all, it's with a buged 2.1 rom. So to get out of the pain of waiting i possibly buy myself a nexus one very soon!

You kidding me? Android 3.x would be here by the time this update comes out.
