Nokia unveils new social-networking mobiles
Posted 24th November 2009 at 9:51am by Jonathan Leggett
Nokia has showcased two new mid-range, social networking-optimised mobiles in a bid to target the youth market that has made a hit of Samsung’s similarly pitched Genio Touch.
Available in a choice of six colours, the Nokia 6700 Slide features a five megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, photo editing functionality and 3G HSDPA support so that pictures captured can be uploaded quickly and easily to social networking sites.
The 7230, meanwhile, is also on offer in range of colour options and is equipped with a 3.2 megapixel camera as well as fast, one-touch access to the likes of Facebook and MySpace.
Earlier this month, Nokia revealed that it plans to streamline its handset release schedule in future, after recording its first quarterly loss for a decade in the third quarter of 2009.
The change of strategy will see fewer budget and mid-range models produced by the Finnish company, with a view to giving greater prominence to its flagship smartphones, such as the forthcoming N900.
