(Shazam)RED has been released at the low price of £2.99 in order to raise money for the (RED) organisation, which helps fight various afflictions across the African continent.

20 per cent of the takings accrued by the iPhone app will go towards combating AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis in some of the poorest regions in Africa.

Although new customers can enjoy all that Shazam has to offer by purchasing the app, the existing ten million Shazam users are encouraged to upgrade to the (RED) edition in order to help raise money and awareness about the plight of underprivileged communities.

(RED) executive Seb Bishop said that 100 per cent of the money his charity receives goes towards the causes for which it is fighting and although it has only been in operation for three years (RED) has already managed to raise nearly £85 million.

It is hoped that music fans will get into the spirit of giving and buy the new app. Mr Bishop firmly believes that music is integral to the growth and performance of the charity.
