The HTC Leo Windows Mobile-powered phone will launch on O2 in just over three weeks time, the network’s website confirms.

According to a source cited by Engadget, O2’s intranet site features the HTC mobile phone, which was initially codenamed the HTC Firestone, on its future products list and gives the official date as October 12th.

The Leo is the first Windows Mobile phone to be launched under the HTC banner for some time, with the company more recently choosing to focus on the Android mobile phone operating system (OS).

Features of the Leo, which will run on the latest edition of Microsoft’s OS include a powerful 1GHz Qualcomm processor, to allow lag-free, simultaneous use of its functions, a 4.3-inch touchscreen and a five megapixel camera with a dual LED flash.

O2 has yet to confirm price points and contract terms for the upcoming mobile phone, which will go sale just a matter of days before its flagship phone release for the latter half of the year, the Palm Pre.
