About BlackBerry

About BlackBerry

BlackBerries are among the most sought-after mobile phones ever for good reason with the Curve, 8800 and 7100 Series models proving some of the most popular phones ever.

BlackBerry mobile phones’ success has been cemented by the innovative inclusion of push e-mail. This allows users to retrieve e-mails from their BlackBerry in real time and has brought new functionality and accessibility to mobile e-mailing. Meanwhile, the full Qwerty keyboards that many of the phones incorporate make composing e-mails a breeze.

Newer BlackBerry handsets employ touchscreens for navigating menus are also equipped with other highly original and useful features including the ability to view online maps on the phone and see your current location as indicated by a flashing dot. Additionally, selected models also include great web browsers for efficient, fast internet surfing and entertainment functions such as media players for enjoying music and videos on the move and cameras. The devices’ compatibility with MicroSD cards, meanwhile, means there is plenty of scope to take advantage of the features on offer through large memory capacity.

The BlackBerry Curve series has brought stunning new levels of style to the smartphones, with the handsets’ ergonomic feel and smooth edges adding to the appeal of BlackBerry mobile phones further.

History

History

BlackBerry mobile phones are produced by Research In Motion (RIM), a leading designer, manufacturer and marketer of innovative wireless solutions for the worldwide mobile communications market. RIM was founded in 1984 in Waterloo, Ontario and now operates offices in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific.

The phones got their name after an employee claimed that the buttons which adorned them resembled the “tiny seeds on a strawberry”, after which this was chosen ahead of the previously mooted names of LeapFrog and PocketLink.

Since their launch in 1999 as two-way pagers, BlackBerries have garnered a string of awards including the Most Innovative Wireless Device prize at the Andrew Seybold Choice Awards as well as the LAPTOP magazine Editor’s Choice Award for the Curve series.
