Windows mobile phones are phones that run on Microsoft Windows Mobile, the same system that many of us use on our work and home PCs or laptop computers.

Windows mobile phones are part of a new generation of smartphones or PDA phones that allow you not only to access the internet from your mobile phone, but to synchronise your PC, laptop and mobile phone using the Windows Mobile operating system.

Most people will have heard of Microsoft's Windows operating system for PC's and laptops, well Windows mobile phones allow you to run a smaller version of that operating system on your mobile phone.

Windows Mobile is a compact version of the Windows operating system combined with a range of basic applications designed specifically to be run on a mobile device.

There have been several versions of Windows Mobile, with a new version tipped to be released later this year called Windows Phone.

Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)
This allows mobile phones that are attached to computers to share their internet connection via USB and Bluetooth.
