Winged Samsung mobile phone to take flight?
Posted 10th July 2009 at 11:51am by Jonathan Leggett
Despite handset manufacturers' best efforts, inputting large amounts of text on a mobile phone isn’t easy. Still, few solutions are quite as out-there as Samsung’s latest proposal.
Behold it below:

According to Samsung, the design, for which it has sealed a patent, will enable users to "conveniently use various application programs through the mobile terminal”. That's opaque marketing speak for 'it'll also do away with the fiddliness associated with inputting text with slide out keyboards and touchscreens'.
Could it work? We’re not sure. Not least because the flip-out wings look a bit flimsy. That suggests they’ll provide scant ballast, which we feel is essential when typing. But we applaud Samsung’s effort anyway.

this looks like some kind of weapon. Is it a samsung phone transformer? Terrible idea.
ReplyAngus, 3rd October 2009.
Unbelievably stupid idea....
ReplyIf they want a keyboard - they should speak to Palm who had some years ago developed a rollup keyboard which was separate to the phone and which was just plugged in when needed.
